Tips for designing your return to work or office strategy

A few days ago I took a quick survey of more than 100 people among professionals, entrepreneurs, freeLancer and business people about what they would like the future of the office or return to the office to be like once we are all vaccinated.

The results from my point of view were not surprising, there were three options:

1.-Remote work with 4%.

Hybrid work with 80%.

Full-time office 16%.

The future of work will be "offices on demand" where employees can reserve a desk, according to Amazon's Andy Jassy.

I want to share with you three tips to design your strategy for returning to your workspace or office.

1.- People can be productive working in different places, but on demand adds a lot of value to the individual and collaborative collaborators (creativity, de-stress, teamwork, problem solving, etc.) and as a strategic value for the organization, on demand spaces allow inclusion and diversity by allowing employees to decide from where they can and is best for them to work, empowering them to make their own decisions and that will result in higher productivity for the employee. Recruiting strategies will be enhanced by being able to hire people from all over the country or the world. In addition, the savings of hiring this type of office will be very attractive for all organizations by paying only for the space used per hour or day.

If offices want to remain relevant, they need to build stronger organizational culture, community and offer spaces where employees can feel inspired to work and collaborate. Employees want to put on our shirts and know where we are going. Companies need to support the individual and strengthen teamwork, not every day we will go to the office, but when it is our turn to go we want to feel very comfortable and inspired.

3.-Working at home is here to stay and is solving problems in our cities (economic savings at home and in the company, lower CO2 emissions, less stress driving, more time with the family, etc.) Let's support and take care of our workers at home: physical and mental health, technology, productivity, etc.

The office is the heart of the company, let's continue to design, build and operate for a prosperous future.

There is no doubt that remote work is here to stay as I had shared previously.
